Dragonfly Dreams in Sweet Sugarplum Card

Yep, it's another Sweet Sugarplum card!  I love the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, I loved using it last year when it came out, and I am so glad it will still be available in the new annual catalog that starts June 1st.  
While the stamp set and a wonderful coordinating die set will be available in the new catalog, many colors like Sweet Sugarplum with only available until May 31, or while supplies last.

This card features one of the the retiring colors, Sweet Sugarplum.  I'll miss this color, in looking through my samples and some of my ideas, I seem to use this color a lot.

The Dragonfly Dreams stamp set have wonderful sayings that I use as some of my go to's.  So even if I am not using the images on this set, I am always grabbing it for sayings on my cards.  

Here's a  few different ways I made this card, from simple on the left with just layers of card stock, to the middle and right with extra touches like ribbon and shimmer with Winks of Stella.

Blue Watercolor Dragonfly Card

Here's another card using the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle in the Stampin'Up! Occasions catalog. I was experimenting watercolor paper and inks, I love how this background turned out.

I used a large clear block (E block for this card) and stamped directly on the ink pad (no stamp involved), first in Bermuda Bay then turned the block around and stamped the other side in Island Indigo ink, then used a Stampin' Spritzer to spray with water before stamping directly onto Watercolor Paper.  Every card will be unique, that's the beauty of this technique.

Yellow Dragonfly Card Swap

I just love the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle in the Stampin'Up! Occasions catalog. I made this card for a card swap with other demonstrators.  I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.

After I made this swap card, I used it as a template for a card at my last card class, (I'll share that card soon).  This card uses the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, the Falling Petals Embossing Folder, and the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. 

I used the embossing folder for the white rectangle and used the Big Shot to make the dies to make the solid dragonfly and detailed dragonfly, I used sponges to color the solid dragonfly.  First with the lightest color and working out to the darker color.  

I used the Detailed Dragonfly dies for both layers of the dragonfly on the front of the card.  The Fine-tip Glue Pen has been my go to tool lately.  It works so well on details without making a mess.

I also stamped the inside of the card using sponges on the stamp to get the different colors. 

Last touch, was brushing the white detailed dragonfly with Clear Winks of Stella Glitter Brush, these are available in Clear and Gold.  They are fun way to add accents to your crafts. The shimmer does not show up well on the photos, but when you hold the card and moved it in the light there is a beautiful shimmer.

Dragonfly Dreams Blushing Bride Card

Here's one of my favorite bundles in the new Stampin'Up! Occasions catalog, the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. I made this card for a card swap with other demonstrators.  I was inspired by some watercolor cards I saw on Chantal de Kaste's blog.

After seeing Chantal's blog post, watercolor workshop 2.0, with all the fun designs using watercolor, I came up with mine using Stampin'Up! watercolor paper, Blushing Bride and Whisper White card stocks. 
I created the effect using Aqua Painters with Blushing Bride ink.  Let it dry before putting together the layers of the card. Then I spattered the cards with Gold Winks of Stella Glitter Pen.  

I had a bit of a problem with my Winks of Stella, it started leaking, so it makes it hard to paint the area I want.  Looking on the bright side, it works great for spatter!  So I spattered in a diagonal across each card front.  Just so you know I actually love my glitter pens!  My clear glitter works great, I'm on the second one (I use it a lot!).  But I messed up my gold, so I'm just finding other ways to use it to keep getting that great gold color on things.  

I made 11 fun cards for this swap.  That's one of the things I love about being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator is having stamping friends to share ideas.  I'm so glad I decided to join 10 years ago.  Have you ever thought of joining?  Right now is a great time, the starter kit is only $99, plus during SAB you can pick 2 additional stamp sets.  That's a huge value.

I used the Detailed Dragonfly dies for the 2 layers of the dragonfly on the front of the card.  And used some pretty pearls as an accent.  The Fine-tip Glue Pen worked great to glue the dragonfly layers together and to the watercolor paper.
