Card from January Card Class

Okay, I'm a little behind getting photos posted of my cards.  Here's the cards from my January card class.  I just love the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle in the Stampin'Up! Occasions catalog. I made this card for a card swap with other demonstrators and offered it at class.  I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.

The red and white card with butterfly was a spin off of another card swap I did, but instead of using the dragonfly bundle again, I used butterfly framelits (the small detailed butterfly is from Bold Butterfly Framelits and the solid butterfly is from Butterflies Thinlits, they work together so well!).  I love the saying from Sheltering Tree stamp set.  This card could be great for Valentine's day, or any day of the year.  Both butterflies were die cut in Whisper White, then I sponged the solid butterfly with Real Red and Pink Pirouette inks.  This card also features the Falling Petals Embossing Folder and Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set
See my original Daffodil Delight Dragonfly card here.

See details on the Dragonfly Dreams Blushing Bride card here.

The black, silver and white card uses the Birthday Blast stamp set (available in wood or clear stamps).  I wanted an elegant look and thought silver embossing powder on Basic Black card stock would be great.
You can find the Birthday Blast stamp set on page 11 of the Occasions catalog, it coordinates with the Star Blast Edgelits Dies.  They are also available in a bundle in this catalog, save 10%! Wood $40.50 or Clear $34.00.

CASED In Color Butterfly Card and a Fun Technique

I saw a beautiful card form Dawn Olchefske using some of the new Stampin'Up! In Color 2016-2018.  Well, I thought I just have to share this great card at my Open House, so I copied it!  Thanks Dawn for a wonderful card!

When I was making card samples for the Open House I thought it would be fun to stamp off some of the color on my envelope and that is when I found this fun extra detail!  I stamped the Flirty Flamingo on the card, then stamped again on the envelope without re-inking, thinking I would just get a lighter color, but was happy to see the butterfly image showed up too!  So after that I was stamping the card, and then the envelope for all and showing my guests the same thing.

First use your Big Shot and the Butterfly Thinlits Dies, then use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere to the card front.  Stamp Peekaboo Peach, then stamp again on the envelope without cleaning the stamp.
Repeat this step with the Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.

This card used the new In Colors Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum inks with Memento Black ink for the greeting.
Other supplies used were Whisper White card stock, Big ShotButterfly Thinlits DiesMini Glue DotWhisper White Medium Envelopes

After the Open House I wanted to make a few more cards and thought if the envelope looks this good, how about a 3rd time stamping without re-inking and putting the same image on the inside of the card.  I thought that worked well too.

Here's my first attempt at the card.  I liked how it turned out, but wanted to get the colors closer together, so move the stamp up (for me it was higher than I thought it should be to get the colors to touch). If your colors are not close enough together, you will not be able to stamp off on the envelope and get the fun pattern of the butterfly.
Here's a few of the fun cards and envelopes that were made.

These In Colors are great by themselves or used together, they are fresh and fun.

On Stage Fun Projects and Pictures

Wow, what a week!  One wee ago I was in Salt Lake City for the Stampin'Up! On Stage convention.  So much fun!  I got to see the new annual catalog first!  We watched lots of demonstrations, saw so many great new products and best part… I spent my time there with friends!  Both new I met and lots of old friends from past conventions and friends that live here in Denver too.
I had great plans to share so much of this already.  I schedule my flight home for Saturday night so I could get started Sunday on the blog and sharing photos.  But then my flight was canceled!  Silly snow in Denver!  So things changed.  I got to spend an extra day with some friends and fly home Sunday with them. Thank you Laura Kowalski for letting me bunk with you on Saturday night!!  My roommate for the trip, the fabulous Glenda, was lucky enough to fly back Saturday night, so maybe next time I should book on the same airline as her!
Unfortunately this threw off my scheduled plans and I feel like I've been playing catch up all week!  Do you ever feel like that?
Want some treats?  These were easy and fun to make!  I make them for my friends when we got together at On Stage, and they are filled with chocolate!
Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bags are perfect for making fun treats.  I used Metallic Foil Doilies with Neutrals Color Collection Designer Series Paper and a butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlits. I used glue dots and dimensionals to put it together. The Clothespins are perfect for closing the bag and you could reuse the topper on a card front later.

Here's snow on the mountains in Salt Lake.  In the past I have always visited in July, so this was a new site for me.
Here we are getting settled at the start of General Session the first day.  So much fun watching stamping demonstrations and getting the NEW Stampin'Up! catalog!!

Janet and Laura won prize patrol!
Laura won prize patrol!
We all ended up wining a prize patrol and there were a couple of all attendee give aways too.  It was a great time stamping with friends and seeing so many great ideas!
Fun table decorations.  I just love all the specials touches Stampin'Up! does to make it special.
Demonstrators put up swaps to show off and share with everyone else.

It's selfie time!  Here's one with me and Spencer.  I used to love watching him stamp on stage.  Now he does more behind the scenes.  It's always fun to talk to him.
Me and Bonnie!  I LOVE watching Bonnie on stage, she is so funny and fun!!  One of my favorite people to watch stamp.
Sara and Shelli did some stamping too.
We had snow and rain on Friday, but then the storm moved out and look at the sunshine Glenda and I enjoyed on Saturday.

Fun Folds Pop-Out Window Butterfly Card

Here's a really fun card with a Pop-Out Window.  It was one of the cards from my April card class.  So fun to make!!
I love the image in the Indescribable Gift stamp set.  It reminds me of our trip to Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival.  I love the flowers and how beautiful they are.
Indescribable Gift stamp set in Clear or Wood

I got the idea for the Pop-Out Window Butterflies from LeeAnn Greff.  I loved her idea and her colors, so I copied her card. And everyone at class loved it too.

The card is standard size, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2".
I used a medium size Square Framelit die on the card, then a square of Cantaloupe and White inside.
2-1/2" x 2-1/2" Whisper White
2-5/8" x 2-5/8" Crisp Cantaloupe
4-1/4" x 6" Whisper White, scored at 2" and 4"

Supplies:
Indescribable Gift and Petite Pairs stamp sets,
Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Whisper White card stock
Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe inks
Whisper White Craft Stampin' Ink, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool
Big Shot, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Square Collections Framelits Die
Oval Punch, Modern Label Punch, Jewels-Pearls, Dimensionals

I used White Craft Ink and White embossing powder on the image, with the Heat Tool to set the embossing powder.  Then I used Qtips to color in the flowers and leaves of the embossed images.

Retiring Supplies:
Pistachio Pudding card stock and ink, Crisp Cantaloupe card stock and ink, Modern Label Punch
Some of the supplies used for these cards are on the retiring list.  Retiring items are only available until June 2, or while supplies last.
