Picture Perfect Birthday Card

The Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set is the perfect "go to" set for birthday cards!  I love all the fun images and the versatility of this set.  Here's a card I made for a card swap with other demonstrators.  It was a fun way to use different products from the Stampin'Up! Occasions catalog.  And I am so happy this set is going to be in the new annual catalog that comes out June 1st.  

For this card I wanted to go with more primary colors.  I've seen so many different fun cards with this set, but many of them use the colors in the Suite offerings in the Occasions catalog.  So this was my attempt at changing it up!

Some of these colors will be carrying over to the new catalog but others are retiring.  

I stamped my images on Whisper White card stock, first the saying in Tuxedo Black, and for the candles I stamped the stripes and then stamped off before stamping the solid candle.  

I used my Big Shot with the Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the Real Red card front, giving texture.

 Don't forget to stamp the inside of your card too!

After I made my swap cards, I decided to do a second version of this card, without the embossing folder.  Just to show that you don't need to have texture, especially if you do not have a Big Shot yet.  

While the stamp set will be available in the new catalog, colors like Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango with only available until May 31, or while supplies last.

Folding Birthday Card with Candles

Getting some stamping time with friends is always good!  Here's one of the cards from the Birthday card class.  I love the little paper candles, and this card has a fun fold too.  

I have seen a number of cards like this on Pinterest and different blogs, loved the idea for this fun folding card.  See all 3 of the cards from my class HERE.

I got the measurements for my card from Julie Davison.  She posted a video recently showing how to make this type of card.  

• Card stock  4-1/4" x 11"
• Score at 2-1/2", 6-3/4"
• Use 2-1/2" Circle Punch (put in as far as it will go and center on the fold)
• Use 2-3/8" Scallop Punch, and center it so the flap will go over your scallop when you open the card.
• Use smaller scallop punches to decorate, use a dimensional to pop up (this will hold the top flap of the card closed for you).

Have fun with this card!  Just imagine all the different designs you can make.

To Make the Candles: use a square of Designer Series Paper, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", roll it up, use sticky strip on the edge of DSP to hold it in place.  A dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue with Baker's Twine stuck inside of the roll makes it look like a candle.

Birthday Candles Card

I love looking at Pinterest!  I saw some great ideas for birthday candles, but this idea really stood out for me.  Designer Series Paper rolled up, and add Baker's Twine makes a great candle.  Though my husband wanted to know if they pop when you light them, huh no!
